These unique saddle carpets are made with the same Himalayan sheep's wool used by horsemen of the Tibetan Plateau.
Woven in Nepal, then assembled in Grass Valley, California by a small company specializing in industrial sewing.
Decorative yet functional, the construction combines strength and durability with comfort in mind.
Rich in lanolin, the pile has a buttery feel, and these saddle carpets are easily cleaned with cold water and Orvus soap.
The swallowtail shape of these saddle carpets was inspired by turn of the century British saddle cloths. Tibetans traditionally used a square shape, notched at the back.
We have found that the swallowtail is popular due to the decorative nature of these pieces, and we have modified the dimensions to allow for higher visibility under saddles.
