Select sheep’s wool from the Tibetan highlands is cleaned, handspun, and then dyed with high quality Swiss dyes. Skilled Tibetan and Nepalese men and women do the weaving on frame looms. Once the rug is taken off the loom, specialists incise the design, helping delineate the pattern. The rugs are then washed, without chemicals, and sized to closely match specifications. The Tibetan wool is very rich in lanolin, making these pieces inherently soil-resistant. The feel, or hand, is luxurious. The distinct knot used in the Tibetan technique creates a very durable rug.
