Chinle - "It flows from the canyon," is named for the trading area located near the mouth of Canyon de Chelly. This style developed as the result of reviving an earlier aesthetic. During the 1920's a trader named Leon H. (Cozy) McSparrow is credited with inspiring weavers to revive the simple borderless stripes and bands of the Early Classic Period (1700-1850.)
